Hovertravel has revealed its list of the best attractions on the Isle of Wight, as voted by members of the public, celebrityballa.com reports.
The hovercraft service, which carries some 800,000 passengers across the Solent every year, surveyed its passengers to find out what they thought were the best things to see and do on the Island.
In the ‘Best Pub with Live Music’ category, Ryde’s ‘The King Lud’ was named as the eventual winner, following a successful regeneration in recent years.
As the Hovercraft’s Island destination is Ryde, it’s little wonder the town featured heavily in the awards. Not only was ‘The King Lud’ and eventual winner but so too was ‘Chipmunks’, named as the best takeaway fish and chip shop on the Island. That wasn’t all, however, as Ryde’s ‘Chocolate Apothecary’ was also hailed, taking the crown for ‘Best Hot Chocolate’.
It is hoped the awards will not only promote the winning businesses but also the Island as a whole; potentially prompting holidaymakers from all over the UK to consider Isle of Wight breaks next time they’re considering a trip away.
Speaking to iwcp.co.uk about the awards, Hovertravel’s head of commercial and marketing, Loretta Lale, explained: “We wanted to dig a little deeper and find out what people enjoy on the Isle of Wight.
“By tapping into this local knowledge, we can share this insight with customers through our website and make everyone’s trip to the Isle of Wight even better.”
