The Rhythmtree festival is set to feature at this year’s Bestival, according to iwmail.co.uk.
The world music festival will feature on the Bandstand at the event on Saturday 7th September to celebrate World Music Day. Acts lined up to perform including AJ Homes and the Hackney Empire, the London Afrobeat Collective and the Zee Guveya Heritage Band, as well as Little Aze, Airtist and Isle Of Wight folk artist Martin Newnham.
Talking about the addition to the Bestival line-up, the event’s curator Rob da Bank told iwcp.co.uk: “There’s a lot of amazing music in this world and we only really ever hear a tiny amount of it, so I’m really pleased that the chaps from Rhythmtree have put together such a great line-up.”
Rhythmtree organiser, Gerry Priddle, also added: “Curating the Bandstand stage in 2013 is a tremendous opportunity for me to put typical ‘Rhythmtree’ bands in front of the glorious Bestival crowd.
He also claimed that the slot produced an opportunity to get more unheard music recognised by the masses.
Also set to feature at the festival, which entices many to take Isle of Wight breaks, is the Women’s Institute. The influential organisation will be serving tea and cake to event-goers in their own tent. Music headline acts for this year are Elton John and Snoop Dogg.
Bestival will take place from September 5-8th at the Robin Hill Country Park. The Rhythmtree festival, which is also based on the Island, will be held earlier in the year from 19-21 July.
