The Isle of Wight Steam Railway tourist attraction received two awards in the space of a week, according to rail.co.uk. The railway beat some stiff competition to win the prestigious awards.
The first award was the Tourism and Leisure Business Award in the Isle of Wight’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism’s annual ‘Business Awards for Excellence’. It was presented at an event attended by over 300 people from the business community on the island.
The second award was given just five days later in the Tourism South East Beautiful South Awards where the railway won the Silver Award in the Best Large Visitor category.
The latest award puts the railway in the running for the national Visit England awards, showing that the island is a solid tourist attraction.
Isle of Wight holidays may increase in popularity with this latest award making the Steam Railway a must-visit attraction.
Visitisleofwight.co.uk also reported that the railway had won two other Tourism South East Awards including one for Outstanding Customer Service.
Steve Oates, chairman of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway said: “The island, and indeed the South East, has hundreds of successful and vibrant visitor attractions, so to receive these two awards is a great boost to our standing in the tourism community.”
